The
Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) would be conducted hereafter
every year by each of National Law Schools on rotation
as per the criterion of seniority. The NLSIU, Bangalore,
the oldest of the National Law Schools will set the process
in motion by undertaking to conduct the admission test
for the academic year 2008-09.
It
is expected that other National Law Schools (i.e., the
Law Schools established by State enactments) would join
these seven Law Schools in due course.
This
has to be incorporated with a notion that larger the catchment
area, better will be the quality of students; and it would
be better for the institutions and the society. This should
be the first step to improve the quality of our educational
institutions, so that they may measure upto the international
standards. At the undergraduation level, CLAT would cover
admissions to the following colleges:

VITAL
CLAT FACTS-
• Commencement Date: Sunday, May 11, 2008
between 3-5 P.M
• CLAT will have no negative marking.
• No sample paper will be available.
• The Candidate must fill the OMR Application
forms by black/blue pen; not pencil.
• NRI Candidates/ NRI Sponsored candidates
must write CLAT 2008.While filling in the category, they
need to mark NRI/NRI Sponsored slot
only. Selection will be based purely on merit, anyway
• Apart from the seven National Law Schools
at Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Raipur, Bhopal, Gandhinagar,
Jodhpur, the test centres for CLAT would also be set up
in Delhi, Chennai, Cochin, Mumbai, Chandigarh,
Shillong, Jammu, Guwahati, Patna, Jaipur, Lucknow and
Bhubaneshwar
Under
Graduate Programs:
1. Eligibility: 10+2 Examination or equivalent
with not less than 50% marks (students taking qualifying
examination in March /April 2008 are also eligible to
apply)
2. Age limit: 20 Years
as on 1st July 2008
3. Pattern: The test paper will consist
of 5 Sections with objective type questions only
Procedure for obtaining of Application form and Submission:
Applications will be issued from 31st January. 2008.
Last date for sending the filled in application form along
with the enclosures will be 10th April, 2008
a)
Off-line :
i) Printed application forms along with
the brochure will be available at the designated branches
of the Corporation Bank and State Bank of India against
the payment of Rs. 2,000/- only (inclusive of test fee
and bank charges);
ii) Request for applications may be sent
to the Convener, CLAT, National Law School of India University,
Bangalore - 560 242, with a demand draft for Rs. 2,000/-
drawn in favour of the Convener, CLAT, and payable at
Bangalore.
iii) Applications can also be downloaded
from www.clat.ac.in. The downloaded application along
with the DD and other enclosures should be sent to the
Convener, CLAT at the address of NLS,Bangalore..
b) On-line :
For online submission of applications, visit www.clat.ac.in.
The completed and printed Online CLAT 2008 application
form along with DD for Rs. 2,000/- drawn in favour of
Convener, CLAT along with the enclosures should be sent
to the Convener, CLAT at the above address.
