Pune:
The state directorate for technical education (DTE)
has approved the admission rules for post-SSC (class X)
and post-HSC (class XII) diploma courses in professional
streams including engineering and pharmacy.
An order of approval, dated July 4, was posted on the DTE’s
official website — www.dte.org.in — on Monday.
According to DTE joint director for Pune region G.P. Chaudhari,
the process for sale of admission forms for post-SSC and
-HSC diplomas had already begun from June 26 when the secondary
school certificate (SSC) results were declared.
He said, the process would continue till July 11 after which
allotment of seats would be taken up.
Unlike the centralised admission process (CAP) for the engineering
degree courses, admissions to polytechnics are done at the
individual institution level but, under the overall supervision
of state DTE.
A few changes have been introduced in the post-HSC diploma
admission rules this year. The annual tuition fee for diploma
in pharmacy and architecture courses at government-run and
aided polytechnics has been fixed at Rs 3,000 per student.
As such, the order directs all regional joint directors
to ensure that these institutions were charging the annual
student development fee at Rs 3,000 per student, on par
with the tuition fee.
The pharmacy council of India (PCI) norms strictly prohibits
institutions from effecting admissions in excess of the
sanctioned intake capacity.
Students admitted in excess of the intake won’t be
eligible to secure the PCI registration. Also, the Jammu
& Kashmir quota and the AICTE’s fee waiver scheme
won’t apply to institutions admitting more than the
sanctioned intake of students.
Other Backward Class (OBC) students will get 50 per cent
fee waiver at unaided institutions as against 100 per cent
fee waiver granted at government-run and aided institutions.
Similarly, the seat distribution ratio would be 80:20 —
20 per cent of the seats for the management at unaided and
non-minority polytechnics. At minority institutions 50 per
cent seat will be filled by the managements while 50 per
cent seats will be filled on an open category basis.
